INTRODUCTION
Work opportunities in Australia are excellent thanks to a low unemployment rate. It is a young country and being close to South East Asia, it benefits from a very stable economy and investments from the economical giants such as China, India…
The other advantages are that there is a large offer of casual jobs paid by the hour and a high turnover of employees who change jobs very frequently. This means it is easy to find a job, especially in hospitality and marketing industries. Wages are paid weekly or fortnightly.
The main issue is that work opportunities depend on the visa you will be granted.

TYPES OF JOBS
General introduction : - You have to be aware that your visa will determine the quality of your job position: the most interesting visas would be the sponsorship and permanent residency that will allow you to work full time without any special conditions whereas the other temporary visas such as the student and working holiday visas will limit your possibilities a bit more!
- You won't be able to work unless you have been designated a Tax File Number (TFN): you can apply for your TFN only if you have obtain your work permit.
Jobs on the demand list: there is an enormous shortage of labour in the following industries: health (General practioners, nurses, radiologists, physiotherapists...), education (High school teachers in sciences and mathematics), chefs, hairdressers, skilled farm labour and plumbers. So if your english is good and you have at least 2 years work experience in one of these fields, you have a great chance to be sponsored.
Student jobs: due to your work limitations to 20 hours a week, you have to be aware that you will have difficulties to find a very valuable job. Most students work as casuals in hospitality, extras in supermarkets or others, baby-sitting…. If you plan to work in the customer services, marketing, engineering areas...), you have to master English, have several years of work experience and have grest references. To have contacts in the relevant industry can be very useful.
The wages: the average yearly salary is around AU$25,000 and often migrants, students and working holiday are employed as "casuals' and paid at the minimum rate of AU$10 à 20 per hour cash or AU$15 if declared. Students will be able to cover their daily expenses such as rent, food and transport whereas the working holiday visa holder will be able to not only cover their daily expenses but also save to finance their trip around Australia.
To find a job easily in restaurants, cafés, clubs..., it is recommended to seat for the RSA Certificate (responsible for serving alcohol), a compulsory qualification to work in hospitality in Australia. The training lasts one day and you receive your certificate the same day. We offer a very competitive rate (AU$65 in Sydney) and can organize a course for you.
